TRAS EL DÍA DE ACCIÓN DE GRACIAS... EL POPULAR "BLACK FRIDAY"

El Día de Acción de Gracias (en inglés Thanksgiving Day) es una celebración tradicional de Estados Unidos festejada el cuarto jueves del mes de noviembre. Generalmente en esta festividad se reúnen en torno a una mesa familiares y amigos a compartir un banquete celebrando el día.

En Estados Unidos, la tradición moderna del día de Acción de Gracias tiene sus orígenes en el año 1621, en una celebración en Plymouth, en el actual estado de Massachusetts. La fiesta en 1621 se celebró en agradecimiento por una buena cosecha. 

La mayoría de personas en Estados Unidos celebran esta fiesta con reuniones familiares en sus hogares donde preparan un banquete,en muchas casas es común ofrecer una oración de gracias. El plato principal tradicional para la cena es un gran pavo asado u horneado, este pavo tradicionalmente va acompañado con un relleno hecho de pan de maiz y salvia. Se sirve tradicionalmente con una jalea o salsa de arándanos rojos, además suelen servirse platos de verduras como las judias verdes,  boniato,  y puré con gravy , que es una salsa hecha del jugo del pavo; también suele servirse una gran variedad de postres, siendo el pastel de calabaza, el más popular. Las comidas se sirven con sidra de manzana caliente con especias (spiced hot apple cider) o espumoso de sidra de manzana, tradicionalmente fermentado (sparkling apple cider o hard cider). También es común preparar el pastel de nuez y el de manzana.

La mayoría de negocios y oficinas están cerrados en este día. Algunos almacenes, centros comerciales, restaurantes y bares permanecen abiertos. El viernes siguiente a la fiesta es tradicional la apertura de la temporada de compras navideñas. Este día se conoce como "Black Friday" (viernes negro). Almacenes y tiendas todos ofrecen precios de rebaja y mucha gente acude desde las primeras horas del día a los centros comerciales.

Esta mañana el alumnado de 5ºA ha dramatizado situaciones cotidianas para comprar un billete de tren, avión o autobús. Se han divertido mucho representando roles de turistas y oficinistas simulando que están en una estación de Londres. Os dejamos varios videos.

LA HISTORIA DE HALLOWEEN

La historia de Halloween para niños y no tan niños es generalmente desconocida, aunque se ha convertido en una fiesta muy popular en todo el mundo debido a la importancia que esta celebración tiene en Estados Unidos.Pero… ¿De dónde sale esta fiesta?

 

La historia de Halloween para niños: El Origen.

Lo que mucha gente no sabe es que Halloween es una celebración de origen celta que tiene unos 3.000 años de antigüedad. Surgió en el norte de Europa, concretamente en Irlanda, aunque también se celebraba en otros países como los actuales Inglaterra, Escocia, Francia o España, principalmente en Galicia.

Los habitantes de los diferentes pueblos de la cultura celta celebraban una fiesta llamada “Samhain”, que significa “el final de la cosecha”. La hacían el 31 de octubre, pues para ellos, ese día comenzaba el invierno y también un nuevo año. Además estaban convencidos de que esa noche los espíritus de sus antepasados regresaban a sus antiguos hogares, por lo que esa noche ponían velas en las ventanas y les dejaban comida en la entrada de sus casas.

¡Pero esto fue hace muchos siglos! Con el paso del tiempo esta tradición fue mezclándose  con otras creencias, otras religiones, otras costumbres… hasta transformarse en la fiesta divertida que es hoy en día.

¿Cómo se convirtió en una fiesta tan popular?

En el siglo XIX muchos irlandeses emigraron a Estados Unidos y se llevaron con ellos esta tradición, que gustó mucho al pueblo americano. A principios del siglo XX la fiesta empezó a extenderse por toda la nación y comenzaron a llamarla Halloween. Años después, dio el salto a otros países del mundo gracias en gran parte al cine, ya que se hicieron desde películas de Halloween para niños, hasta películas con contenido más terrorífico para los adultos. En los últimos años, los medios de comunicación, las series de televisión etc, han hecho que Halloween sea un día especial en el calendario de muchos de nosotros.

Hoy en día esta fiesta gusta sobre todo a los niños, que disfrutan vistiéndose de fantasmas, esqueletos, brujas y otros muchos disfraces terroríficos. Las casas se decoran con calabazas en las que se tallan caras grotescas y a veces se vacían para introducir en ellas una vela que les dan un aspecto aún más aterrador.

Además de poder convertirse en monstruos por unas horas, lo que más gusta a los más pequeños es ir llamando a las puertas de sus vecinos  diciendo “Truco o trato” en inglés "Trick or Treat" y pidiendo golosinas. El trato es que si les dan caramelos, cantan una canción, y si no, les asustan o les gastan una broma. También es muy típico dedicar la noche de Halloween a contar historias de miedo, ver pelis terroríficas y acudir a fiestas donde la decoración es a base de candelabros, murciélagos y telarañas.

FINAL TASK: MY FAVOURITE ROOM!

Esta semana hemos finalizado la unidad sobre la casa en 3º de primaria y como tarea final el alumnado ha hecho sus primeras redacciones sobre sus lugares de casa favoritos, describiéndolos al detalle. Además de redactarlos los han leído y presentado a sus compis en clase y los resultados obtenidos han sido excelentes. Os dejamos algunas fotos de estos trabajos.
